Escape to the Country – Team Event in Ardoch

I have just come back from 3 days facilitating a team event in Ardoch, Loch Lomond, in a facility where all of the money raised from the accommodation supports the charity Columba 1400 for disadvantaged children. I was surrounded by the Scottish rolling hills and a stunning view of the Loch. The experience made me remember that sometimes getting away can be the best tonic for creativity and opening our minds to what is possible.

Tomorrow go somewhere other than your desk for lunch. During the day, go for a five minute walk. I am sure you will come back feeling more refreshed and ready for whatever awaits you.

Presence – Tricky Authentic Conversations

Tom has been reading and learning about the views of the philosopher Eckhart Tolle and sharing them with me. I have just come across this clip on Youtube of Jim Carey talking about ‘A New Earth’ one of Tolle’s books and the idea that this moment, now, is the only thing that exists. He also talks about the energy we put into maintaining bad relationships by ‘bad mouthing’ the other person.

This is exactly what is at the heart of our work on authentic conversations. If you can truly be in the moment with no ego thoughts, then you stand a good chance of harmony and moving forward in those ‘difficult conversation’ moments. We try to help people to translate this into behaviours on the outside… and it’s hard to do, I would argue even impossible without the intention on the inside….

Coaching Boundaries

I am doing an assignment on the boundaries between coaching, psychotherapy, counselling and other ‘helping’ disciplines. can anyone help or lead me to useful articles?

Coaching Accreditation

On my Masters in Coaching we have been discussing coaching accreditation and who to go with and why do it.

The thought being that as coaches we need to be monitored to ensure we don’t cause harm to people and their minds.

Mmmm… interesting… the thought occurred to me today how come parents don’t have to be accredited?!

2gether Blog

With spring in the air, and the promise of warming spring sunshine, and our souls and minds might be ready to come out of hibernation.

I wonder how many of you are wondering what this year will bring? I certainly am. I have recently started a Masters in Coaching and know that this is a road that is going to take me to somewhere new… but I don’t know where yet. Sometimes I think that rather than having a big goal or vision, the main thing is to start something new sometimes and let the path lead you.

Revolution? How Happy are your people?

The events in the Middle East and North Africa have made me wonder how much of a surprise the events have been to the government and could your  team and organisation be caught out the same way?
